The exhibition will open with the subtitle “Utopia of the Present”. The most important thing in the work of the group, according to the curators, is its focus on the person, the environment of the city quarter, on tradition, using a modern, systematic approach and new technologies. It was the reaction of "socially responsible architecture" to the facelessness and technocracy of modernism. According to Alison and Peter Smithson, Aldo van Eyck, Jaap Bakema, Giancarlo de Carlo, Georges Kandilis and Shadrak Woods, the dominant architectural style of the post-war era contributed to the further alienation of people from the urban environment in which they live.
In the period from 1955 to 1981, the group held regular meetings, where they discussed the current problems of the creativity of the participants: a multi-level city, infrastructure and mobility, flexible structures and "architectural" - all this has remained relevant today.
This is the first major survey of the association's creativity, and the exhibition features materials from the Pompidou Center, Harvard University, University of Venice, École Polytechnique Zurich and the Le Corbusier Foundation.
Exhibition time: September 24, 2005 - January 8, 2006
