The future structure will be the largest of all temporary structures erected as part of the Serpentine Gallery program since 2000. In its appearance it will resemble a children's top, its main formal element will be a wide ramp, twisting around the volume of the pavilion. Visitors can use it to climb to the observation platform on its roof.
Eliasson, one of the most famous contemporary artists, told reporters that he was always attracted to experiments with space. But cooperation with a professional architect gave him much greater opportunities in this area of creativity. As conceived by Eliasson, the form and content of the building are closely intertwined, and the result is a space where visitors can socialize and walk. The artist also took part in drawing up a program of events that will take place in the pavilion in the evenings. During the daytime, the building will act as a cafe.
Construction of the pavilion will begin in May this year, and it will be open from July to October.
