The City Hall complex with a new square in front of it is located in the "Warehouse District" of the capital of Texas. This former industrial area is now being converted into a site of clubs, restaurants, new office buildings and luxury housing. Therefore, it was logical to move an important administrative building there, on the shores of Lake Town Lake.
The structure of limestone, copper and glass is surrounded by an open space with innovative landscaping, where the rare combination of green, water and shade in this area should attract the townspeople.
Inside, on an area of 11,000 sq. m is the office of the Mayor of Austin, the office of the governor of the city, meeting rooms and offices of members of the city council, as well as a cafe and shop.
The massive limestone wall begins at the level of the rock base deep underground. Two lower floors of the building, also faced with this stone, "grow" from it.
The upper tiers of the building are sheathed with sheet copper, and the roof is made of the same material.
The lobby of the building occupies four floors of the building, its outer wall is glazed, and it is covered with polished copper panels that reflect sunlight into the room. It is crossed by bridges that allow you to quickly get from one part of the building to another.
Next to the building, stands are arranged, covered with an awning made of solar panels. It generates 10% of the electricity consumed by the City Hall complex, which should guarantee the Ancestor project a LEED Gold Certificate for Sustainable Use of Resources.
