Its name contains the word "specific" in the country's three state languages - German, French, Italian. This epithet best reflects the essence of the development of Swiss landscape design in recent years. The curators chose for the exposition deeply different projects of 28 workshops from different parts of the country, but all of them are united by their attention to the context, to the time and place of existence, "existence" of these works.
The projects of Swiss landscape architects highlight the most striking features of the place for which they were created; at the same time, they can arise according to the principle of contrast, starting from the images of the traditional Alpine landscape.
The passage of time plays an important role in the practice of landscape architecture, bringing with it the growth and wilting of plants, changes in temperature and lighting, and sometimes the entire landscape as a whole. The task of the architect is to take these factors into account, using the fundamental elements in his work - air, water, earth. None of the projects presented at the exhibition could have been implemented in another area, all of them were created for a specific plot of land, hence the individuality of each of them, as well as the opportunity for the authors to preserve this originality in each of their subsequent works.
The exhibition "SPEZIFISCH, SPÉCIFIQUE, SPECIFICO - LANDSCHAFTSARCHITEKTUR AUS DER SCHWEIZ" will last until July 14.
