It was built according to the project of Massimiliano Fuksas, who won the corresponding competition in 2003. With a hall for 10,000 spectators and an area of 14,000 square meters. m, this building is the largest of all Zenits. It is also distinguished by its lightness: its walls are made of translucent orange fabric stretched over a metal frame. Thanks to this type of shell, the new concert hall claims a world record: its area is 12,000 square meters. m, thus, this membrane is the largest in the world.
The design of the Zenit in Amiens is based on a similar principle: it was also designed by Fuksas and will open in the near future; its membrane is red, and the hall itself is designed for 5700 spectators.
Strasbourg "Zenith" is located on the western outskirts of the city, on the territory where the new "Exhibition Park" will soon appear. In the meantime, the concert hall, which looks like a modern sculpture (especially at night, when its volume glows from the inside), serves as a kind of "outpost" of Strasbourg, clearly visible from afar. It is planned to project announcements about the concerts on its membrane.
Its supporting structure consists of several ellipsoid rings of different sizes, located with a slight offset to each other. As a result, it seems that the entire building was slightly moved by a gust of wind. The structure's weightlessness is also accentuated by its fully glazed first floor, where the lobby is located.
The first Zenith opened in 1984 in Paris, and since then the program of building affordable and accessible concert halls throughout France, used not only for music performances, but also for various public events, has attracted more and more prominent architects from around the world., including - Norman Foster, Rem Koolhaas, Bernard Chumi.
