Rock Oman began with some historical facts that influenced the formation of architects of his generation, including Slovenia's independence in 1991, the collapse of old architectural companies, the need for the younger generation of architects to start everything from scratch, great competition among architects in the sphere of housing construction.

The first residential building of OFIS Architects was a project from 1997-2000. in Ljubljana, from which Oman began the story. The customers' requirements were to use the cheapest materials and exactly the same floor plan. The architects tried to play with the last condition - they moved the general layout to one side on the first floor, but they could not deceive the customers. As a result, the building from the outside turned out to be simple and laconic. Of the materials on the facades, according to Roka Oman, the cheapest were used: plastic window frames and steel frames of local production.

The second competition for a residential building was won by OFIS Architects in 2003 due to the best cost-benefit ratio, using the cheapest economical option and the most optimal location of the apartments within the building. The competition was announced by the Slovenian Housing Foundation, an organization dedicated to providing reasonably affordable affordable housing to young families and other social groups in need of such housing. The layout of the building turned out to be as simplified as possible - a concrete structure with brick filling. To decorate the facades, a cellular system of out-of-line balconies was used, painted in bright local colors, which gave shadow to those apartments that are located below. As noted by Rock Oman, "such structures, among other things, also give a sense of privacy, since the walls protect you from being seen by your neighbors." On the rear façade, the architects have designed ventilation openings, which, taking into account the Mediterranean climate, create natural ventilation in the premises and thus create a comfortable living environment. Residents of the small Slovenian town of Izola, where the building was built, nicknamed it "bee hive", the architects liked this name, and now they themselves call it that.

About the competition for the next project in 2004 in Ljubljana, Rock Oman says: “We won this competition because we were able to offer 40 percent more apartment space within the same limited space than our competitors did. Naturally, the issue of architecture did not even arise here. Nevertheless, when designing the facades, the architects created a module, which is a geometric ornament with slightly blurred shapes and streamlined corners. An important condition for the construction of the building was the timing - no more than two years, so the first part of the project was built very quickly, and then they began to build the second block of apartments on the neighboring site.

When designing the second building, the clients asked OFIS Architects to do everything the same as in the previous building - the same structure, the same layout, the same materials. But, of course, you always want to do something new, it is not interesting to repeat yourself. The site was located next to a very busy highway, so the architects oriented all of its balconies and windows to the south, away from the highway. The design of the facades of both buildings is similar in color and ornamental solution, although the second building is often called "Tetris" - in association with the well-known computer game.

The next residential building - Hayrack Apartments - was to be located in the Alpine part of Slovenia, taking into account which OFIS Architects developed its architectural solution. The architectural image of the building was based on the traditional architecture of Alpine Slovenia - wooden houses with an open annex for storing hay. In addition, for the architects, the landscape of the mountainous terrain, as well as the surrounding urban environment, was important: construction proceeded in the vicinity of the architectural monuments of the 1960s. Nevertheless, the building was built in the mainstream of rural architecture, it was not even fenced off - the architects used only natural barriers in the form of "hedges".

The last project, which Rock Oman told about, is interesting in that initially it was supposed to build only the shopping complex of the Mercato chain, but OFIS Architects proposed to build more residential apartments above the shopping complex in such a way as to fit them into the permitted height. For construction, a traditional material was used - wood, as well as cement tiles. In this residential building, just like in the previous one, great attention is paid to the landscape - it is located in Alpine Slovenia on the shores of Lake Bohinj, next to the ski resort.
