The monument will be installed in the northeastern part of Hyde Park. The authors of the project, architects of the Carmody Groke bureau, sought to create a memorial that would be suitable for “collective perception”, but at the same time would be quiet and secluded enough for the relatives of the victims to come.
The construction will consist of 52 steles, each of which will represent one of the victims. They will be combined into four interconnected groups - in accordance with the four explosions that took place in London on July 7, 2005. Each of the "columns", made of stainless steel, will be marked with the date and place of the attack.
Not far from the complex, a memorial plaque with the names of all the victims will be installed on the ground.
Work on the construction of the memorial will begin next fall, and its official opening is scheduled for July 7, 2009.
