He called his competition work "Pomegranate", which, perhaps, was also intended to persuade the jury's opinion in his favor: this fruit is a symbol of Granada. At the same time, it was the structure of the grenade that Kuma used for the constructive solution of his construction. The cellular structure of concrete created by him makes it easy to connect the spaces at different levels to each other and free them from structural supports.

Also, this decision made possible a more democratic, according to the architect, arrangement of seats in the auditorium. Moving away from the traditional scheme with a parterre and "stacks" of boxes, Kengo Kuma placed the seats on the terraces, smoothly rising from the stage to the ceiling of the hall. Thus, a public space is created, similar to the halls of Italian baroque theaters, where contact between spectators was especially important.

The appearance of the main facade of the building is also determined by the "honeycomb" of the structure, but there they are more transparent: the foyer of the building opens there, facing into the space of the city.
