It is located on one of the main shopping streets of the city, Zeil, and is part of the ensemble of the new development PalaisQuartier (apart from the shopping center, this complex consists of high-rise buildings of a hotel and an office center, as well as the palace of the princes of Turm und Taxis, restored from the ruins of the 18th century: all these structures will be commissioned this fall).
The six-story MyZeil is reminiscent of a huge glass sculpture in the spirit of another Fuksas work - the exhibition center in Milan. Its streamlined shape is covered with 13,000 triangular glass panels of various sizes, but the main feature of the project is two hollow "whirlpools", or "canyons", as the architect himself calls them. One of them connects all the tiers of the building, as if pulling the shell inside the building from the roof. The other connects the main facade and the roof: through it, the townspeople strolling along Zeil Street can see a piece of the sky.
The smoothly flowing space of the building's interior is filled with sunlight. Its "attractions" include Germany's longest, 46-meter interior escalator, connecting the first and fourth floors, the main public spaces of the building: the first tier of the MyZeil serves as an extension of the street space, through which pedestrians can cut the angle between Zeil and neighboring Eschenheimer Strasse; on the fourth, there is a spacious "restaurant boulevard".
