It will appear in the Benito Juarez district near the historic center of the city and will become part of the new development ensemble according to the general plan of Cesar Pelli. Its location on the edge of the complex will make the tower a link between it and the surrounding residential area.
In addition to Mayer's 34-storey building, there are planned buildings with apartments and a skyscraper with a hotel and apartments. The transparent "base" of the office tower will be clearly visible from all sides due to its location on the "plaza" surrounded by shops. A winter garden is planned on its 20th floor, and a restaurant and bar on the upper tier.
The asymmetrical forms of the building with accentuated corners, according to the authors of the project, represent a modern interpretation of the forms of Aztec architecture. Curtain walls made of clear and fritted glass allow the use of sunlight in the interior, while protecting the premises from overheating. Panoramic glazing on all floors will allow employees to admire the views of the center of Mexico City and the surrounding mountains.
The office building should be completed by 2014; it is expected to receive the American LEED certification.
