The Jockey Club Innovation Tower (sponsored by the Hong Kong Jockey Club Charities Trust) is located in the northeast corner of the campus. Its narrow section is sandwiched between a road junction and a sports ground, but the architects turned the forced "elongation" of the building into the image of a ship moving vigorously forward. This is facilitated by the integrity of the volume of the building, since the podium, which is usual for tower-like structures, is here interpreted as part of the landscape and is not read as a separate part of it.
On 15 floors of the building - 28,000 m2 of area (of which 15,000 m2 of usable): 1800 students and teachers of the Faculty (School) of Design and the Project Institute of Social Innovation Jockey Club will study and work there. The new building, whose name can also be translated as “the tower of innovation”, will include design studios, laboratories and workshops, multifunctional auditoriums, exhibition spaces (“forums”), an auditorium for 300 seats, and a common lounge area. These spaces are complemented by open and covered courtyards. Together, they are designed to encourage professors and students of various specializations to fruitful communication and cooperation.
Part of the facade is sheathed with aluminum panels, part is glazed. An efficient ventilation system includes, among other things, CO2 sensors, which regulate the supply of fresh air to the premises.
