The new tower, one of the tallest buildings in the Scandinavian region, will be located in the area of the old port and shipyard on the banks of the Göta Elv River. Its construction should serve to renew the Karlavagnsplatsen area, for which a comprehensive master plan has already been developed. The site chosen for the tower borders on the Lindholmen Science Park.
The 60-storey skyscraper, according to the idea of the customers, the development company Älvstranden Utveckling, should reach 200 meters in height, but out of five finalists (more than 50 applications were submitted for the competition), only one was limited to the indicated number, and all the others significantly exceeded this mark.
It is known that the bureau reached the final Zaha Hadid, Ian Simpson, Manuel Gautran, SOM and Hertha Wingord, however, the projects presented to the public are still anonymous. We will find out the authorship of each of the works only on June 17, when the winner of the competition will be announced.
