On April 15, 2015, leading architects and specialists supporting the ideas of energy-efficient construction have determined the winners of the Russian stage of the student competition "Designing an ISOVER Multi-Comfort House".

The national final was attended by students from Barnaul, Vladivostok, Volgograd, Yekaterinburg, Kazan, St. Petersburg and Tyumen. Their projects were assessed by: A. Remizov, Member of the Board of the Union of Architects of Russia (CAP), Chairman of the CAP Council for Sustainable Architecture; Chairman of the Board of NP "Promotion of Sustainable Development of Architecture and Construction - Council for Green Building"; Head of the architectural bureau Remistudio; Umnyakova N. P., Candidate of Technical Sciences, Associate Professor; Deputy Director for Research, Research Institute of Building Physics, RAASN; Demidova M. A., candidate of architecture, architect, member of the Union of Moscow Architects; Isabela Chichonska, art director of Timur Bekmambetov's studio, Andriyanov A., Executive director of the National Agency for Sustainable Development, Gabriel Golumbeniu, head of the international competition “Designing an ISOVER Multi-Comfort House”.

All works presented in the competition were carried out taking into account the basic principles of a "multi-comfortable home" - minimum energy consumption, environmental friendliness, increased safety, efficiency and durability, which can be achieved by materials such as ISOVER thermal insulation.

The teams that took 1st place - Vovchenko Tatiana and Kharchenko Dmitry (Barnaul, Altai State Technical University named after I. I. Polzunov (AltSTU)), 2nd place - Popova Ksenia, will represent Russia at the international final in Astana in May 2015, Rudko Anastasia and Ten Irina (Volgograd, Volgograd State University of Architecture and Civil Engineering (VolGASU).

What ideas did the participants of the Design of a Multi-Comfort House ISOVER reveal in their projects? What did you pay special attention to? What knowledge and skills did you acquire during the preparation process? The winners and finalists of the competition spoke about this, as well as about their impressions and plans for the future.

“The assignment and the implementation process were very interesting. The search for alternatives, taking into account all factors and disputes on this matter, force us to think critically, to prove the impartiality of arguments, to reconcile contradictions. This competition is an excellent preparation for a diploma."

“The idea of our project is to create a living space similar to a living organism, able to adapt and modify to the needs of a person at all levels (from urban planning to planning) and limiting harmful external influences. The residential group is designed in a closed circuit, on two levels, one of which is equipped with a smart dome. It protects from the impacts of the difficult climate of Astana, and is also equipped with technologies for the collection and recycling of natural resources.

The task became incredibly interesting for us. The difficult, harsh continental climate with dry summers and cold winters became the starting point of the flight of our idea! I wanted to create a project of a really comfortable, environmentally friendly and energy efficient facility!

The competition gave, first of all, a large amount of knowledge! We are experienced participants! A year ago, we became the second in our city, and this year we managed to get to the National Final, and the amount of work that the participants of such a competition have to do is strikingly different from the volume of a standard course project. To create a bright, interesting project, you need to think through everything to the smallest detail, delve into all the technological nuances, and present your fruit of work with dignity! We have already definitely decided to apply the acquired knowledge in the field of energy efficiency in our theses! We recommend it, not only to comrades, but to all architecture students! The Saint-Gobain student competition, ISOVER, is a chance for everyone! The tasks are always interesting, and the number of strong opponents will allow you to grow professionally."

“Our project with Bondarenko Semyon and Likha Daria reflects the idea of an oasis in a semi-desert area of Kazakhstan, a Zen garden formed by 10 houses in the form of stones. We paid special attention to the formation of the architecture and concept of the microdistrict, based on climatic and national characteristics. In addition, it was important to subordinate the form and concept of the projected residential neighborhood to the central dominant element - the Exhibition Complex for the World Exhibition EXPO-2017. The competition and the task in an amazing way allow students to reveal their full potential and knowledge in the field of not only sustainable architecture, but also structures, modern materials, engineering systems, microclimate and creating a comfortable living environment for the whole microdistrict. I believe that the competition gives students the opportunity to learn how to solve multidisciplinary problems in a team, in a team, where everyone is responsible for their work. In preparation for the competition, we have mastered a large number of software systems, from Photoshop to highly specialized programs Autodesk Flow Design, THERM, MCH Desighner. This method and approach, based on the use of various programs, working with the cloud space will allow us in the future to work in leading companies using BIM technologies. In conclusion, I would like to note that I have learned a lot about the Saint-Gobain group of companies, about the company's research centers (R&D) and am thinking about the opportunity to continue my career in the Saint-Gobain group of companies”.
