Green Book is a new Russian project that aims to reduce the harmful impact on the environment during the construction and operation of buildings and structures. The preparation and publication of the catalog is carried out with the support of the Ministry of Natural Resources and Environment of the Russian Federation. The Green Book includes manufacturers of building and finishing materials recognized by the expert commission as environmentally friendly. Rockwool thermal insulation products, made of natural material - natural stone, fully fit this definition.

The basis for the preparation of the Green Book catalog of environmentally friendly materials was the instruction of the Government of the Russian Federation following the meeting of the Presidium of the Council under the President of the Russian Federation for Economic Modernization and Innovative Development dated May 17, 2013. The main task of this project is to show which building and finishing materials can really be considered environmentally friendly and which manufacturers in Russia correspond to this status, as well as restrict the supply of materials that negatively affect human health. The organizers of the project are the Ministry of Natural Resources and the Environment of the Russian Federation, the Ministry of Construction and Housing and Utilities of the Russian Federation, EcoStandard group and NP Center for Green Standards.

The products selected by the expert committee for participation in the catalog meet the following requirements:

  • do not pose a danger to the life or health of people, the environment, the life or health of animals and plants;
  • ensure the efficient use of energy resources during the operation of buildings and structures;
  • meet the requirements of the accompanying documentation attached to them;
  • retain their consumer properties during the established shelf life (if established by the manufacturer).

The inclusion of Rockwool in the Green Book project once again proves that the company produces materials that are environmentally friendly and safe for human health and the environment. Rockwool has traditionally placed high emphasis on the safety of its products and prioritizes caring for the environment and promoting the principles of sustainable buildings. In particular, the company became the first manufacturer of building materials in Russia to receive an ecological product certificate. In 2009, according to the results of an environmental review conducted by the Ecostandard group, all Rockwool products received the EcoMaterial ecolabel, which confirms the safety of their use for interior decoration of objects, including children's rooms and bedrooms. In 2012, the company confirmed the compliance of not only its products, but also production with this environmental standard.
