The assessment is based on the analysis of the full life cycle of the material according to the "Cradle to Grave" principle. The environmental impact is measured in Eco-glasses per tonne of material. At the same time, 100 "Eco-points" correspond to the environmental impact of one inhabitant of Western Europe in one year.
The general assessment takes place at the level of entire building structures, i.e. all the necessary materials for a 1 m device2 roof or façade are analyzed together. This takes into account transport, operation, durability and end-of-life processes in order to calculate the environmental benefits based on a 60-year service life (“Cradle to Grave”). The result is expressed in "Eco-glasses" per m2 and translates into an easily interpreted rating from A + to E.
