At the beginning of the year, the Kaliningrad branch of the Union of Architects of Russia announced a competition for the best concept for the development of the Parkovy stream space. This territory is now in desolation, but, according to the organizers, it can become a significant object for the city, attractive not only for local residents, but also for tourists. The task of the participants was to collect a landscape park, a zoo and adjoining city streets into a single comfortable space. 27 participants presented their works, among which the jury selected the top three. We present the projects of the winners.
First place
Creative workshop of T. M. (Samara)
The project provides for the creation of a tree-like promenade on the territory of the Park Creek, which either divides into two branches and bends around the stream on both sides, then again gathers into a single "trunk" and runs along one bank. Small dead-end branches-branches end with observation platforms.
The fence of the zoo, according to the authors' idea, will be made in the form of a flat vertical projection of a picturesque row of trees growing on the slopes of the ravine. Finally, the final proposal of the architects was the construction of a new branched pedestrian bridge that will connect Rustaveli and Nosov streets. The authors strove to make their intervention in the natural landscape careful and invisible, while at the same time creating a comfortable resting place for the townspeople.
Second place
Architectural group Citizenstudio (Moscow)
The project is based on the idea of a trinity. This is where water, earth and air come together. The embodiment of this idea is the promenade, which is divided into three dimensions: water, forest and air paths. This approach allows you to provide variability in the route of movement in the park. The aerial trail is a bridge along the stream, which allows visitors to climb to the height of the tree crowns and look at the city, stream and zoo from an unusual position. The forest trail is a network of footpaths throughout the park. A water trail runs directly along the surface of the stream.
The pedestrian bridge in this concept consists of two paths: one passes between the slopes of the ravine, and the second rises higher and forms an observation deck, from where a beautiful panorama of the park opens.
The authors paid special attention to the design of the zoo fence. Visitors walking along the fence will feel that bears, elephants, zebras and other animals are walking with them.
Third place
Architectural bureau Green Design Society (Moscow)
The authors of this concept set as their goal not only the improvement of the competition area, but also the beginning of the creation of a new water ring around Kaliningrad. The project reflects both ideas for improving the environmental situation in this area, and proposals for the creation of new public spaces. The entrance to the zoo, for example, forms the town square. The forest bridge of an unusual design can become a place for walking and a pleasant part of the everyday route of citizens. There should also be an open-air cinema, a green school and a playground.
