The SOM architects were tasked with creating a symbol of the vibrant business life of the Gaoxin industrial area. The 56-storey skyscraper Jiangxi Greenland Zifeng, located on the banks of the Gan River, has become just such an iconic building.

The lower two-thirds of the building is dedicated to shops and office space. The "podium" of the tower houses shopping areas, cafes, a cinema and banquet halls. The hotel is located on the top twenty floors, marked outside by the "Large Window" of three mirrored surfaces cut into the prismatic volume of the skyscraper. This "window" facilitates the transition of the layout and floor area from the office to the hotel function. There is an outdoor observation deck on the rooftop with a magnificent view of the Old City in the west of Nanchang. The total area of the building is almost 210 thousand m2.

The peculiarity of the Jiangxi Greenland Zifeng skyscraper is not only in the aforementioned "Big Window", but also in the solution of its facade. It is covered with a diagonal aluminum profile grille that protects the interior from the sun's rays, and carries tiny white LEDs to illuminate the tower at night. Thanks to the energy efficiency and environmental friendliness of the technologies used, the skyscraper received a LEED silver certificate.

Jiangxi Greenland Zifeng skyscraper is not the first work of SOM studio in Nanchang. Adjacent to the new building is the Central Plaza Twin Towers, built by this architectural firm in early 2015.
