The Anton Bruckner Private University (the great composer was born in the outskirts of Linz) provides education in the field of music, drama theater and dance. Its history began more than 200 years ago, with a music school that opened in 1799, but until recently its branches were located in different parts of the city. Now all of them are united in a new building, which should contribute to both the effectiveness of the educational process and the "cross-inspiration" of students and teachers of various creative specialties.
The building is located at the foot of the Pöstlingberg hill, in the park of the former Hagen castle. The architects tried to fit the structure into the natural environment, for which they provided it with a lamellar facade, concealing its significant dimensions (the area of the three-storey building is 13,700 m2). These slats immediately evoke various musical associations - from the accordion to the harp, not to mention the curtain. Special mention should be made of the sloping glass wall of the lobby and the open front staircase, which can serve as spectator places for open-air concerts.
Inside there are almost 100 classrooms, not counting 10 halls (three for drama theater, four for dance and three for music), as well as a concert hall for 325 spectators, an organ hall, a chamber music hall and a studio hall for dance and drama (each accommodates 70-140 spectators out of three). In the building, 220 teachers teach 850 students, but the capacity of the underground garage is small: for reasons of economy, instead of two tiers, cars were given only one, for 131 parking spaces.
