Backaldrin, a manufacturer of ingredients for the bakery and confectionery industry, has already built one "House of Bread" on its campus: it serves for meetings, conferences, workshops. Therefore, the Coop Himmelb (l) au building received the second number, however, there, in addition to the spaces similar to the first “house” function in a concrete basement (it is designed for 120 people), there will also be a “room of miracles” (Wunderkammer), or “cabinet of rarities ", As such small private museums were called in the past centuries. Like the collections of beautiful and amazing creations of man and nature that were collected by emperors, electors and naturalists, the House of Bread II will display unusual items - "rarities" - from the backaldrin collection, in one way or another related to the theme of bread and its production.
The exposition will be located in the second tier of the building - a "cloud" on a cross-laminated timber frame covered with 3,650 stainless steel flakes, each of its own size. Inside, the central place will be occupied by the atrium, where separate exhibits will be lowered by cables, resembling an unusual chandelier. The rest of the "rarities" will be displayed on two levels in display cases and on the walls; all elements of the exposition will be integrated into the architecture of the building. The atrium will be skirted by a spiral staircase; glass floors will provide it with natural light.
The cloud framework will be assembled from digitally controlled parts: one of the architects' goals was to ensure ease and speed of installation. The frame will open into the interior.
