The founder of the bureau, Michel Remond, has several projects of research centers in France: the National Center for Scientific Research and Laboratories of the Ecole Polytechnique (all located in the suburbs of Paris), the Institute for Solar Energy in Savoy, the Paris-Saclay Research Center for Air Liquide. Alejandro Aravena's Elemental bureau, Jestico + Whiles Associates (UK), Carlos Ferrater's Office of Architecture in Barcelona, wHY Architects (USA) and Zarhy + Pez (Israel / Switzerland) also entered the final of the architectural competition. A total of 128 applications were submitted for participation in the competition.

According to forecasts, Tel Aviv Nanotechnology Center will become one of the most technically equipped and modern facilities in the Middle East. Its area will be 6 thousand m2, which will house 12 scientific laboratories, a common area and offices. The building is designed for 120 researchers and engineers.

Extremely high requirements were imposed on the design strategy, since for some premises an error of no more than 1 mm for every 100 m was allowed.2… In addition, a standard laboratory uses five times more water and energy than any office or residential building. Therefore, the energy-efficient solutions proposed by the winners of the competition were especially important for the economical maintenance of the building: sun-protection slats on the façade, glass panels that “optimize” solar energy, natural ventilation, solar collectors and a rainwater collection system. The construction of the research laboratory is planned to be completed by 2020.
