The complex of the Kiev Motorcycle Plant is now turning into a center for the development of information technologies and related industries - UNIT. City. So far, only a fraction of the buildings have been reconstructed, and in order to stimulate transformation through art, UNIT. City management has launched a special art award. It is planned to award it every six months for the best work idea for the former KMZ, which would combine art with high technology, and to implement it.
The first task for architects, artists, researchers and engineers was the transformation of a factory chimney 60 meters high. The winner will be announced next month, and his idea will be implemented in September this year.
One of the contestants, Dmytro Aranchii Architects, has developed a “Cardio Tower” project to help UNIT. City employees and visitors stay fit by training the cardiovascular system. This goal should appeal to the management of the technopark, because, along with the business campus and the educational center, it has already opened a free gym for residents there.
The "Cardio Tower" is a supporting hyperboloid structure that will be "put on" a pipe, with stairs and terraced platforms attached to it. The project is based on training the heart according to the method of Nikolai Amosov, for which visitors must get to the top of the structure with a pulse rate of no more than 140 beats per minute. On the heaviest, upper section, for less prepared visitors, there are moving steps that simulate movement on a horizontal surface. People in good shape will be able to use the static ladder.
A cafe, an amphitheater for performances and film screenings, a ping-pong platform (with a protective shell), a garden, an observation terrace will be arranged on the consoles, and at the very top of the pipe there will be a panoramic platform.
