Guardian Glass has set itself the goal of demonstrating the effectiveness of its products in practice, even in the harshest climates. Therefore, a rocky desert in the south of Spain, near the city of Gorafe, became the place of construction of an experimental dwelling made of glass of its production. Temperature changes during the day and between seasons, minimum humidity, etc. make life there so harsh that traditional dwellings carved into the rock or similar are still popular. However, Guardian Glass has proposed a type of house opposite to the man-made cave for this area - a fully glazed villa that allows you to admire the spectacular landscape from all sides, with a 360-degree view. The house is planned to be rented out to one or two guests for a period of one week.
The fully transparent facades of La Casa del Desierto are made of energy-efficient glass from Guardian Glass: triple glazing are load-bearing walls, and the rest are sliding systems. The base and floors of the house are made of wood. On a total area of 20 m2, there are three zones: a bedroom, a bathroom and a living room. Water purification and electricity generation systems are provided, as well as a block of photovoltaic cells.
The project was developed by the Slovenian architectural studio Ofis, led by partner Shpela Videchnik, Guardian Glass specialists, AKT II and Transsolar engineers. The aim of the cooperation was to respond to the current and future challenges of architecture and construction and to popularize environmentally friendly and energy efficient buildings.
The choice of the type of glass for fencing a particular space played a key role in the project, demonstrating the ability to transform the interior of the house in this way.

If the glazing is chosen correctly, taking into account the specific needs in each of the cases, it can make the house practical and comfortable, regardless of where it is located. Moreover, Guardian Glass is ready not only to offer a voluminous glass portfolio, but also to provide detailed instructions both at the design stage and throughout the entire construction.
