The current quantity and quality of the selection works sent has led the organizing committee to pleasant despair - 56 concepts from 115 people. It would be interesting to work with all the authors, to get to know them better in two weeks of the workshop. However, the experience of the five previous Drevolutions has shown that a comfortable mode of communication between the curator and the participants involves no more than 30 people, united in 5-6 teams. As a result, a list of 44 was formed. The choice was not easy.

Disclosure of the topic of the selection task "WINDOW" made me happy with a multitude of thoughtful, witty, romantic, promising, humane and even political formulations. The works were judged by the presence of the original idea and the purity of the visual and textual presentation. The result was an express study of the "window" as an architectural element and a philosophical phenomenon. We have selected eight concepts that, in our opinion, demonstrate well the diversity of points of view.

The authors of last year's object "Forest" or a tree house in Astashovo had some head start, which the curators gave them for receiving several architectural awards, for example, at Zodchestvo and SPb Design Week, and were nominated in the competition of the international resource archdaily. We love them for their fearlessness, sense of humor and tenacity. Today they have split into two independent groups. We are showing the work of one of them.

ARCHITECTURAL PARANORMAL PHENOMENON

The window appears where transparency is needed. Where people want to be closer to each other. Where society no longer waits for innovations. And the people behind the wall dream of opening up to this world. ***

It's nice that working architects are also willing to take the time to develop a sense of wood. They will participate for the first time.

SILENT WINDOW

If architecture is one of the man's methods of survival, overcoming time and death, then the window is a sign of the presence of the living. Light, air and time invade the space of the room through the window.

Every room is dark, it itself is fenced off from the sky and the sun and connects it with them - a window. A boarded up window is a sign of an abandoned, abandoned house by a person. The absence of a window in the wall is a sign of a place where there are no living ones: storage of bodies, things or phenomena. So in the pyramids a window was not required, but painting on the walls appeared, because the picture is not a twin, but a double of a window. Like a painting, a window from the inside of a room is one of the options for an eye, an optical device for a person. Through the window he sees the outside world, sees it differently. And at the same time, the view from the window belongs to the interior of the room, just like a chair, or a chest of drawers, or a painting on the wall, an ornament on the wallpaper. ***

Last year, Yan was part of the winning team with the "flying huts", and in Sukhanovo with his comrades he presented a composition with an abandoned piano. Julia in Astashovo conjured in the "Forest Workshop".

VIEW FROM SCREEN

In a quiet provincial town, life went on as usual. Its inhabitants went about their usual business. We were confident in the future.

We looked into the distance from the windows of our houses. What awaits us there? Who lives on the other side? Nobody knew.

We were ready for their arrival. We sent them our messages in the sky. The floors have become lines. At home - in pages. Districts - by heads. And the city is a book.

The book is about us. About who we are.

"Do not be afraid of us, we will be glad to meet you!"

WINDOWS THAT WE CHOOSE

Choosing which windows to look through, we think we have the freedom to choose. And we forget that the view from any window is predetermined. ***

At the workshop in 2015 and 2016, they were surprised by the walking elephant and the fish swimming among the trees. We are waiting for new surprises from them.

WINDOW-PERISCOPE

How do people living in Hong Kong's multi-story slums feel? When from the only window in the apartment you can see the window opposite, and the light in the room is only from a flickering light bulb.

The periscope tube, like a vessel carrying fresh blood, will bring light to all apartments, collected high on the roof of the building. And even on the first floors, people will be able to enjoy a panoramic view of the city. ***

Marcel Gimnazdinov, Anastasia Elizarova, Arseny Shchetinin

More beginners. The guys work in various architectural workshops in St. Petersburg. Their work was not selected at first sight - it is all the more interesting that it will be born from a creative union.

WALL AND WINDOW

A window cannot exist without a wall; a wall is the only condition for a window.

People build walls throughout the history of mankind, as a protection, as a shelter, as a designation of their own and others. There is a world on this side of the wall - a house and what is beyond it, large and unknown. A window is an opportunity to spy on another world without putting yourself in danger or bad weather.

The window is a comfort zone. Window - understanding your place in the world and the world as a whole.

In our world, walls are erected endlessly, be it the Berlin Wall or the wall of blocks in a children's game. People destroy them because of a thirst for the unknown, a thirst for the best. Walls are designed to restrict, windows give freedom of choice without destruction.

As long as there are walls, there will be windows. ***

Also a curious new acquaintance. The walls of the alma mater should help them.

OKYO

Formalization should not supplant our need for contemplation.

"Cut through the window" is a gesture of free creation of a hole, emptiness. This action is based on the formation of emptiness, as a kind of autonomous space, where its purpose is paramount, not form.

The void is a border zone that serves as a conduit between interior and exterior …

Window - hole - void - portal. ***

UNTITLED

Remember the window in the bank or accounting department with the tray rolling back and forth? With such a device, you can feed birds and seals without leaving your home!

The task this year is exciting in its own way - to fit into the already dense and diversely filled ARTPLAY space. We look forward to the pleasure of sparkling tense reflections of young brains. The food for this will be rich. See you soon. Let's start on July 20! ***
