The legendary Alfa Romeo factory, which first started production of cars in 1963, expanded its industrial zone in '70 and '80 to such an extent that it covered a huge territory, including parts of Garbagnate Milanese and Lainate.

In 2005, the Alfa Romeo plant was decommissioned and is currently undergoing an extensive renovation, which began with a test track where tests were carried out on recently released cars.

Here a new ACI-SARA (Automobile Club d'Italia - Automobile Club of Italy) Safe Driving Center was established, the management of which is entrusted to ACI Vallelunga - the leader among schools for teaching driving cars, motorcycles, heavy vehicles. The renewed track has almost the original parameters of the Alfa Romeo track: length approx. 1.5 km and constant carriageway width of 9 meters.

In addition to the track, special places have been allocated for meetings and meetings of the club and motorists in two buildings built along the track. The buildings were designed by the architect Michele De Lucca. Both of them have a curved contour, reminiscent of a racing track, and the external facade is completely similar to a chess flag for racing competitions. The buildings house workshops, offices, classrooms, showrooms and seminar rooms.

The roofs of the two buildings were installed by AT di Rogno. 1,500 m² were covered with Riverclack® 550 natural aluminum panels, thickness 0.7 mm.
