The gym, also suitable for performances, gatherings and other crowded events, is in tune with the surroundings: its outer shell with a zig-zag roof resembles the gable roof of the school and other Le Vaux buildings, the tree comes from nearby forests, and the "decking" is typical of local farms. For greater similarity, the authors even added a protrusion like a pipe to the roof.
The northern facade, with the main entrance from the side of the playing field, and the southern one are completely glazed. From the sun and the vagaries of the weather, typical of the Jura mountains - at their foot is Le-Vaux - these sides of the building are protected by deep roof outlets, but they do not shape it.
The western and eastern facades have a characteristic zigzag finish, where the metal cladding is bordered by triangular windows behind a thin wooden lattice. It looks especially impressive in the evening, when light is pouring from inside. By day, however, the interior is filled with sunshine, accentuating the warm wood-paneled surfaces.
The western and eastern "gable" walls are load-bearing, they support floor beams, including the central one, to which lamps, sliding basketball baskets and other equipment are attached, which frees the ceiling, covered with prefabricated acoustic panels to match the wood, from "clutter".
The difference in relief made it possible to "drown" auxiliary rooms in it: locker rooms, boiler room, etc. Above them is a balcony from which you can watch the competition or the meeting; there is also a "signal booth" - a control point for acoustic and lighting systems, which can also serve as a bar.
The stage is arranged in a niche, the backdrop behind it is one of the triangular windows. The architects made great efforts to hide in the walls not only any "infrastructural" details, but also, for example, the stairs to the balcony - for a clearer impression of the space.
The building is completely new, but already "with a biography": it was supposed to open in 2016, but that year, already almost finished, completely burned down. Therefore, now there is its "second edition", which the architects, as expected, corrected and supplemented, bringing all the details to possible perfection.
