On Monday, November 19, the Polytechnic Museum hosted a screening of Gary Hustwit's film Helvetica, the first part of his trilogy on design and urbanism. The director told Gazeta. Ru about crowdfunding, why you need to know type design and his impressions of the Russian capital. When asked about Moscow, Gary Hastwit noted that the situation in the city has only worsened since his last visit (in 2008). The city is not at all adapted for people - neither for pedestrians, nor for motorists, not to mention the quality of public transport and cyclists who, in principle, have nowhere to travel. Muscovites have no choice. “One should always ask the question:“Is this really what the residents of this city want? Do they really want another shopping center? "… Projects should not come down from top to bottom: neither the authorities, nor business should impose their own picture of the city," - says Gary Hastwit. But in order to participate in the fate of the city, people need at least a minimal knowledge of urbanism. The director's documentaries are trying to convey this important and useful information to people.

Moscow interested Gary Hastwit also as the former capital of the Olympic Games. The fact is that he has been studying for a long time how events of this kind affect the development of the city. All week, the director photographed Olympic venues in Moscow and shared his plans to shoot 15 more cities that hosted the Olympic Games at different times in order to make a detailed analysis of them.

The Luzhniki stadium also met Olympic champions in its walls in 1980, and today it is under threat of destruction. This week, the press reported on a possible demolition of the stadium in preparation for the 2018 FIFA World Cup. According to RBC daily, in order to meet the FIFA standards, Moscow is ready to completely demolish the famous sports complex and build a new one in its place. The project, instead of the old stadium, offers the creation of a multifunctional sports and recreational complex with a total area of 847.82 thousand square meters. m, has already been approved by the State Committee of the Moscow Government.

The head of the 6th workshop of Mosproekt-4, which is working on the stadium reconstruction project, Dmitry Bush assured RIA Novosti correspondents that there was no talk of demolishing the building: “The Moscow City Heritage Committee supported the preservation of the BSA facades,” the architect emphasized.

The president of the SAR, Andrei Bokov, spoke in defense of the building, confident that although the stadium is not formally an architectural monument, it is perceived precisely as a monument that needs to be reconstructed, but in no case demolished. However, the Minister of Sports of the Russian Federation Vitaly Mutko told RIA Novosti that the demolition of the BSA is theoretically possible, since "the reconstruction option is very difficult technically, and modernization is sometimes more expensive than building a new one." The city authorities have not yet made a final decision on this issue.

Russian Reporter spoke with Alexander Skokan this week. The architect answered seven questions about the results of the competition for a project for the development of the Moscow agglomeration and further prospects for the development of the annexed territories. Alexander Skokan sees the meaning of such contests in the opportunity to collect "a certain amount of different ideas", systematizing which, you can get a good result. The Moscow competition is a copy of what was done in France (Greater Paris). Only there it was called "consultation". According to the architect, today it is necessary to create a council or a design bureau that would deal with the ideology of the new city and summarize the ideas expressed.

Alexander Skokan insists that Moscow should develop evenly and in all directions, and that new territories should be developed only after order has been restored within the old city boundaries. Otherwise, "there will be no city, no country, but only a chaotic swamp."

Moscow Perspective tells about the International Urban Forum “Smart City of the Future” held last week.

Among the positive and innovative examples of the smart city are Tokyo, Shanghai, New York. Sadly, the experts most often cited the Russian capital as an illustrative example of an inconveniently organized urban space. According to the Deputy Mayor of Moscow for Economic Affairs Andrey Sharonov, the poor quality of life suppresses the economic potential of the city. “To reverse the trend, the city authorities intend to change the approach to the design of new urban areas. For example, to abandon the construction of residential areas, and try to make each territory self-sufficient, where there will be jobs, and leisure facilities, and social infrastructure. And the main "vehicle" will be … a pedestrian "- the source says.

Continuing the theme "Moscow News" they talk about the exposition of concepts for creating a comfortable and modern urban environment "Cities for People", which, together with the Museum of Architecture named after Shchusev was organized by blogger Ilya Varlamov and deputy of the municipal assembly of the Shchukino district Maksim Katz. The exposition offers its own recipes for treating the main ailments of Russian cities - such as public transport, traffic jams and parking, toilets, decoration of sidewalks and courtyards, etc.

For a more detailed insight into the topic of a city suitable for life, you can read the lecture of the famous urbanist, professor at the University of Pennsylvania, leading expert of the US Department of Transportation Vukan Vuchik, published by Polit.ru.

Analysts, developers and experts of the real estate market commented for Gazeta.ru on the decision of the Moscow mayor's office to put up the ZiL site for the development of the territory for the competition. Oleg Repchenko believes that the most successful option for ZiL would be a comprehensive development, involving the construction of offices, retail real estate and "multi-format" housing. Denis Kolokolnikov calls ZiL a "dead city" that negatively affects the surrounding clusters. The development of this industrial zone, according to the expert, will have a positive effect on the adjacent territories, however, it is necessary to think over not only the development objects, but, above all, the infrastructure. Alexey Averyanov believes that today in Moscow there is no such developer who would pull such a global project. Based on the experience of building Moscow City, he proposes to develop a master plan and attract several investors at once.

In general, everyone agrees that the prospects for this project are enormous, given the general shortage of free construction sites in Moscow, the advantageous location of the industrial zone in the city center and the enormous resources of the territory.

Izvestia reports on the plans of the Moscow mayor's office to unite 40 historical parks and estates in the annexed territories. This was told by the head of the Moscow Department of Nature Management Anton Kulbachevsky. He noted that when developing a strategy for the development of the annexed natural areas, the department intends to take as a basis the project of the green ring, which won the competition for the development of "Big Moscow". The authors of the project - students Maxim Oshkin and Alevtina Tomilova - proposed to include in the ring the estate of Ferrein, D. Filippov, "Arkhangelskoye", "Troitskoye", "Pleskovo", "Mikhailovskoye", "Voronovo", "Zhokhovo", "Milyukovo", " Mamyri "," Valuevo ". Forests and parks will be restored, cultural and entertainment spaces will appear, and bike paths will connect all green areas. All this, according to Kulbachevsky, "will allow to minimize the possible negative consequences of the urbanization of the annexed lands."

Moskovsky Komsomolets cites seven proposals from experts from the Probok.net center for the reconstruction of the Third Transport Ring. The first step is to tackle Begovaya Street: build pockets for public transport stops, expand the exit from Leningradsky Prospekt to the outer side of the Third Ring to two lanes. At Novaya Bashilovka, experts advise building an additional exit to Leningradsky Prospekt. On the outside of Bashilovskaya Street, it is necessary to add a fifth row, and the passage should be widened on Nizhnyaya Maslovka, where cars often get stuck in traffic jams in both directions. The same is happening on Suschevsky Val. Here, according to experts, the expansion could be carried out at the expense of fairly wide sidewalks. The changes should affect Sheremetyevskaya Street, where the main problem is in the internal backup, and the intersection of Prospekt Mira and the Third Transport Ring in the Rizhsky railway station area, where a comprehensive reconstruction of the transport, trade and interchange hub of the station square and the adjacent street network is required.

The Government of St. Petersburg has approved the project for the planning of the territory of the public and business district "Lakhta Center". This was reported by the newspaper "Kommersant" and "Lenta-real estate". After public hearings on August 31, deputies from Fair Russia and Yabloko twice appealed to the governor, arguing that the project “does not meet the interests of the city and citizens”. However, by the time the parliament approved the request of the deputies, Governor Georgy Poltavchenko had already signed the scandalous document at a closed meeting of the city government. The UDC Okhta reported that the builders are already preparing to lay the foundation, while the deputies are discussing the possibility of challenging the decision in court.
