The new cultural center is located in the town of Miranda do Corvo, part of the Greater Coimbra metropolitan area. It combines the auditorium and the museum area, the lobby can also be used for exhibitions, and there is also a small open-air theater nearby.
The House of Arts is located in a residential area, and to make it as visible as possible, the architects painted it bright red. The complex volume of the building with many “facets” reminds of the Lausanne mountains towering nearby: its three parts reflect the internal structure: one contains the stage and curtains, the other contains the auditorium and the lobby, and the third contains a café with a terrace and a museum area.
The main entrance leads to the lobby, but you can also get inside through the cafe: this will allow it to be used separately, in addition, it can serve as an alternative foyer for the theater hall. This hall is designed for 300 spectators, and modern machinery allows it to be used for a wide variety of events - from lectures to opera performances.
