The product of the joint work of the Baklažanas design studio (Lithuania) and the Moscow Avant-garde Center of the Workers' Education Library has been released - the first constructivist propaganda map of Moscow. The New Moscow poster includes 180 Soviet-era avant-garde buildings located inside the Moscow Ring Road. The 70x100 cm card is printed in six color variations (yellow, white, red, beige, light gray, khaki). You can buy it here, the cost excluding delivery is 3000 rubles.
The prototype for the design solution of "New Moscow" was
propaganda installations popular at the beginning of the 20th century. In addition, the poster inherited style and visual language from this era; its corners are decorated with stylized drawings on the theme of electrification, industrialization, agriculture and aeronautics.
The authors of the map hope to draw attention to the problem of the disappearance of architectural monuments and somehow influence the unfavorable fate that haunts the Moscow avant-garde. Recall that this year the capital lost
Taganskaya automatic telephone exchange and the constructivist village "Pogodinskaya" - despite the protests of the townspeople and experts and the recognized historical and architectural value. “When the card was just in the project, the Taganskaya automatic telephone exchange was still standing still, and there were only vague rumors about the demolition of the Pogodinskaya quarter,” say the founders of the Baklažanas studio. “When the already drawn and mapped monuments of the avant-garde began to disappear one by one, it became clear that not a minute was to be lost, and it was necessary to have time not only to document what was still left, but also to try to stop the subsequent destruction.”
The presentation of the map will take place at the Avant-Garde Center of the Workers' Education Library on November 5, 2016 at 16:00. Note that "New Moscow" became the second joint project of Baklažanas and the Avant-garde Center of the Library "Education of Workers" on the topic of preserving the monuments of the avant-garde. Previously released
a series of posters with the Shukhov Tower, which received the Red Dot Communication Design Award in 2015.
