A skyscraper design with a height of 200 m (42 floors) was the subject of an international competition in 2009; Hans Hollein's version is based on his idea of the "skyscraper of the future" in the late 1950s when he was studying at the Illinois Institute of Technology in Chicago. The main feature of the Shenzhen Tower is the alternation of tiers of five and six stories high.
The six-storey blocks are smooth, completely occupying 45 mx 45 m building spots. In five storeys, gardens, consoles and niches create a dynamic façade surface and make it easier to meet the individual needs of tenants. The total area of the building is 80,500 m2.
The tower is located next to
exchange on the OMA project, near the MOCAPE museum by Coop Himmelb (l) au. A block with public and commercial spaces adjoins its foot.
