Snøhetta has completed another project for the Australian brand Aesop; shop with an area of 108 m2 located in the historic Chelsea district of London. This is the latest addition to a line of unique boutiques located around the world, with two stores in Oslo, two in Singapore and one each in Düsseldorf and Berlin. Snøhetta also developed the interior of the previous boutiques.
The seventh creation of the Snøhetta workshop is distinguished by a combination of classic (as dictated by its location) and futuristic design. The starting point for the project was a column that stood in the central part of the room. The architects built 12 arches around it towards the walls. This "bouquet" is a key element of spatial zoning. Arches, walls and ceilings are covered with clay plaster with a gradient effect: from a light base color to a darker, saturated one. Lighting between the arches further emphasizes the color transition. Rough, uneven plastered surfaces contrast with the polished, shiny stainless steel elements - in particular the sinks.
