It is located in a picturesque area, on the Rilan Peninsula, from where you can see views of both the Pacific Ocean and the Andes beyond the strait separating Chiloe from the mainland. To minimize possible damage to the natural environment, the building is raised on concrete supports like a bridge.
Thanks to this solution, beautiful views open from the windows of the hotel: this is especially important due to the damp and cold climate of Chiloe, where the weather is not always favorable for walking.
Facades and interiors are sheathed with larch wood. The complex configuration of the building required a “parametric” shingle of various shapes, which was handcrafted by Chilean artisans.
The project combines "green" elements: window openings use sunlight and heat in the right amount, protecting the interior from its surplus, a rainwater drainage system is thought out, thermal radiation and through ventilation are used.
