The Central Church of Christ in Sheffield commissioned Architype to design a replacement for its main building, Egerton Hall, built in the 1960s. The new, twice as spacious 3-storey building contains a prayer hall for 300 people, a lobby, a refectory, administrative premises (total area 1114 m2).
Passivhaus status will be achieved thanks to natural and energy efficient mechanical ventilation systems and a high level of insulation.
The kindergarten in the Belgian seaside resort of Ostduinkerke, built by Buro II & Archi + I, is a one-story building next to the secondary school. Its volume is recessed into the "hill", and the green roof flowing into the hill has been turned into a playground, where a wide staircase leads from the building.
The interior is illuminated through large south-facing windows and north-facing lanterns. The building has 7 classrooms - for each of the groups, a common hall and classroom, a bedroom for the smallest and the manager's office.
The kindergarten received Passivhaus status thanks to, among other things, thermal insulation in the ground, a green roof and natural light.
