The new technical facility, worth $ 300 million, will be used to transmit advanced HD television signals. Analysts predict that the United States will fully adopt this standard by 2009.
Although it will not become the tallest building in the world (it requires traditional "floors"), it will surpass the current record holder of any building - the television "CN Tower" in Toronto (553 m). However, it is reported that there are already structures above 609 m - a radio tower supported by guys in North Dakota, and an oil rig in the Gulf of Mexico.
Unlike traditional TV towers, the Tall Tower was designed by Cesar Pelly to look like a giant tripod. A garage for 400 cars will be arranged at its base, and three television antennas will go up at an altitude of 490 - 520 m. An observation deck with a restaurant, which is obligatory for such structures, will be located under them.
Every 10-15 conditional "floors" for stability, three supports of the tower will connect concrete beams.
The Tall Tower, if it is destined to appear, will stand a few blocks away from the Fordham Spire skyscraper designed by Santiago Calatrava, also more than 600 meters high.
