The construction will be based on an old cocoa bean warehouse located in the central city port area, on the banks of the Elbe.

The brick building, built in the 1960s, was the starting point for the design of the new hall, which will sit on top.

The new complex will include a concert hall for 2,400 seats and a chamber concert hall for 500 spectators, as well as a luxury hotel with 200 rooms and 21 luxury apartments.

Rebuilt parts of the building will be punched with rectangular holes of different sizes, and the billowing roof shapes are inspired by the vibrations of the sound waves of music, according to the architects. The warehouse walls will remain intact.

The construction will occupy an area of 65,000 square meters. m, and will become the centerpiece of the city's large-scale program for the reconstruction of the harbor area, called "HafenCity" - a port city.
