Among the entire spectrum of interests, two topics are most important to me now. The first - projects of reconstruction, reorganization, renovation, revitalization of the existing space - both "filling with new meaning" of the urban fabric, and updating the "scenography" of one building.
The second theme is a significant difference in the personal assessment of the project when getting acquainted with it from drawings and photographs and in reality, when, in addition to sight, other senses participate in the perception of architecture, and the attitude towards an object sometimes changes dramatically.
Hence the choice of my five objects.
1. Madrid Río.
MRIO Arquitectos (a merger of three Spanish bureaus - Burgos & Garrido, Porras La Casta and Rubio & Álvarez Sala) and the Dutch company West 8.
2005–2011, preparatory activities started back in 2003.
The project for the reconstruction of the territory along the Manzanares River in Madrid initially attracted with its scale - not only the territory (a total of 650 hectares), but also the depth of transformations (redirecting traffic flows underground, reconstruction of historical buildings, creation of a diverse park space, new pedestrian connections, bridges). Upon real acquaintance, I finally "hooked" me with thoughtful infrastructure, use of space, visual environment, well-established connections between sleeping areas and the city center, individual elements and details of landscaping - this is an incomplete list of points of attraction that are not captured through the camera lens.
2. Reconstruction of TsPKiO im. Gorky.
The park administration, Wowhaus bureau, Garage CSK and others. Since 2011.
The ongoing project, which is rather not quite architectural at the current stage, is essentially in the same area as Madrid Río. I am attracted to him by the modern friendly environment and atmosphere that is gradually appearing there, most of the erected elements of improvement and infrastructure.
I perceive this project as an impetus from rethinking the improvement of recreational territories in Russia on paper to real action.
3. Eco Boulevard in the Vallecas district of Madrid.
Bureau Ecosistema Urbano Arquitectos. The first stage is 2004-2005, the second stage is 2006-2007.
Madrid again. Here I was interested in the relevance of the range of problems solved by the authors - young Spanish architects - on the one hand - improving the social, aesthetic, communicative and environmental quality of the urban environment, on the other - the proposed solution and its implementation.
4. Museum of Contemporary Art in the Casa de Serralves complex in Porto.
Architect Alvar Siza Vieira. 1997.
Harmonious, commensurate and sophisticated white architecture, perfectly integrated into the picturesque environment of the historic park. With the external neutrality of the image in relation to the environment, the personality of the architect is felt in everything. The facades almost imperceptibly turn into an interior, dissolving in the space of the halls, guiding the visitor through the exposition and again leading the visitor to the park, where the building itself becomes an exhibit.
5. Thermal baths in Waltz, Switzerland.
Architect Peter Zumthor. 1986-1996 / 1992-1996.
I am still impressed by this complex, although I visited it back in 2009. In fact, this is an extension to the sanatorium of the 1960s, but it is perceived as part of the mountains. The interior space is even more striking: simplicity and purity of forms and materials, harmonious fit into the surrounding landscape. The clarity of function is combined with the almost theatricality of the everyday scenes observed there and the luxurious alpine landscapes as scenery.

In 2012, together with Irina Maslova, they implemented the project "OTK-Archifoto - about new architecture on postcards", the idea of which was to determine the relationship between architecture and photography, to identify one through the other. Within the framework of the project, they were engaged in a photography competition, architectural photo walks and lectures.
In 2002-2012 - Leading Architect at NASCO, now works at Architectural and Construction Technologies.
