The purpose of the competition, announced at the end of April, was to determine the best standard projects for the creation of central district hospitals to serve cities with different populations - from 30 to 100 thousand people. The first stage was the qualification selection, which resulted in a list of 12 bureaus-finalists - they began to develop projects. The main condition was to ensure the possibility of adapting the proposed solutions to the specifics and needs of a particular territory and the subsequent expansion of the complex, if necessary.

The organizers of the competition were the FAU "FCS" and the Union of Architects of Russia together with the Ministry of Construction and the Ministry of Health. The total prize fund was 3 million rubles. Additionally, the winners will be invited to conclude agreements on the transfer of rights for the further use of their projects. Note that the competition is consonant with another creative competition dedicated to the re-use nursing home project - it was held by the Ministry of Construction and the Ministry of Labor last year, 2019.

Below are six projects that took first and second places in each competition category.

Hospital with 400 beds

First place. Profile

As required by the competition project, the project was developed taking into account possible adaptation to various types of terrain and relief. The complex consists of several buildings. The main one, medical and diagnostic, is connected with neighboring passages at different levels, including through an underground corridor. The polyclinic is designed as a separate building and is also connected with the diagnostic and laboratory blocks necessary for its functioning.

In addition to modularity and the ability to fit the project into any site of a suitable size, the architects thought of its potential implementation in different climatic zones, proposing hinged insulated facades and several exterior finishing options for the building of the complex.

The jury considered the project balanced in terms of architectural and technological components, and also appreciated thoughtful solutions for the delivery and reception of incoming patients.

Second place. UNK project

According to the concept "Constructor of Health" proposed by the architects, the CRH complex consists of small blocks allocated in accordance with its structure. Therefore, it will be possible to carry out expansion or reconstruction without interrupting the work of the institution. In addition, the "constructor" is easy to adapt to the conditions of a particular site and surrounding buildings.

In the competitive project, the hospital has eleven blocks, each with a separate entrance. Its own block is located at the main lobby, where visitors can get the necessary information, buy flowers and communicate with patients. The principle of modularity formed the basis not only for the layout of the complex, but also for the development of planning solutions. Ease of navigation has become a top priority.

The external finishing of the enclosures is made by facade modules. This choice is due to factory quality, assembly speed and low cost. In addition, modules can be produced according to an individual design with the adjustment of characteristics that are significant for implementation in a certain region (thickness of insulation, percentage of glazing, etc.).

Hospital for 240 beds

First place. Ginsburg Architects

In this project, the architects tried to strike a balance between architecture, technology and comfort. The complex is made up of blocks located along a common gallery. Their number and functionality may vary. The project is easy to adapt to the desired shape of the site and the specifics of the climate.

The concept of landscaping provides for the arrangement of a park area, flower beds in courtyards, the creation of a playground and other open spaces for relaxation and communication. Most of the roofs are intended to be exploited.

Second place. Workshop No. 3 of the Studio 44 Architectural Bureau

zooming
zooming

A distinctive feature of this project is the creation of a common communication space for several hospital buildings. This is the main public area of the complex, the first floor of which is a place for waiting and meetings, and the second is the main corridor through which you can get to the desired department. Access to the second floor is closed for visitors. Also, this part of the CRH has an exploited roof, where patients can walk.

There are ten buildings in the complex. Some of them are connected to the main building through an underground passage. The components of the project can be rearranged, interchanged, and the expansion of the central district hospital is proposed to be carried out at the expense of pre-fabricated structures or the addition of new buildings.

Hospital with 80 beds

First place. Giprozdrav

The advantage of the project is its compactness, which reduces construction and operating costs. The main building is conveniently connected with the main departments of the hospital. The complex consists of several blocks, the number and functionality of which can be changed.

The architects have provided access to natural light in the building - primarily in the premises where patients or employees are constantly located. Interior finishing materials were selected taking into account the need for wet cleaning and disinfection.

In this project, the jury noted a successful architectural solution, thanks to which the complex can be included in any urban development. Each block has its own design, which helps to navigate the territory of the complex.

Large areas of glazing and solid window openings provide the building with natural light and have a positive effect on the emotional mood of patients. From the main building you can go to the green roof for a walk.
