The final design of the building, first shown to the public three years ago, is presented to the public. The new building will house the main lecture hall, research center, small classrooms and a dining room.
The 38 m high structure, designed for 1,200 students and teachers, is a classic version of the Libeskind style: the chaotically located edges of the outer volume are combined with the sharp corners of the interior spaces. The facades will be covered with metal.
The new academic building designed by the famous architect should, according to the leadership of the university, give it individuality - along with the recent rebranding, as a result of which the university was named "Loifana" - in honor of the ancient German settlement located on the Elbe, presumably on the site of Luneburg.
It is planned to start construction this year and finish it by Easter 2014.
