In the fifteenth year of its life, the festival "Under the Roof of a House" decided to make several global changes at once. Firstly, now it lasts not five days, but ten whole days, and secondly, its organizers have completely abandoned the commercial exposition. And if earlier the stands of furniture and decorative items manufacturers were clustered around the famous model of Moscow, now this space is entirely devoted to the festival exposition, which, by tradition, creatively explores the relationship between a person and the interior. This year, it was curated by the artist Sergei Yaralov, who proposed the theme "Interior in someone else's window".

A whole labyrinth of closed rooms with an area of 1 to 12 square meters was built around the model for ten days, which could be looked into only through the windows. Sergey Yaralov deliberately chose the most laconic white frames, because the window in this case is just a symbol of the border between the external and internal, the architecture that creates the face of the city, and the interior, which only its inhabitants can see. This inner filling of everyday life has become the theme of more than 30 installations created by both young artists and masters.

There are also socially significant statements (for example, a photo collage by Lyudmila Krutikova entitled "One Window", which eloquently illustrates how the vaunted single window service actually functions in Moscow, or Totan Kuzembaev's installation "Gone to Fight Corruption" suspended from the ceiling tires with spikes from Swarowski), and cultural and educational (Grigory Kapelyan made a whole selection on the topic "Window in Russian literature"), but most of the works are devoted specifically to the study of the concepts of "housing", "comfort", "private space". Someone, like Vyacheslav Koleichuk, for example, interprets the interior of the dwelling as a boundless "Cosmos", someone, like Irina Myzina, reveals the "Secret of the wardrobe", in which, in addition to clothes, adorable teddy bears live. Natalia Khlebtsevich, on the contrary, shows in her "room" the fragile shells of dilapidated buildings - a post-apocalyptic landscape, which, depending on the circumstances, may appear on one side or the other of the window. One of the exhibits of this exhibition is the model of Moscow itself - several windows are facing it at once, which Sergei Yaralov accompanied with a detailed information about the famous model of the capital's center.

The exhibition, which structured the space of the hall of the Moscow model, became an excellent addition to the competition section of the festival - both from a substantive point of view and as a stylish frame for a very colorful main exposition. In total, a record number of works were submitted to the competition this year - more than 150 interiors of residential and public spaces (that is, actually what is "Under the roof of the house"), as well as projects and buildings of suburban residential buildings (ie, a view of this very roof from the side). The geography of the festival has also significantly expanded - in addition to the traditional Moscow, St. Petersburg, Samara, Yaroslavl, Perm, Kursk, Irkutsk and other Russian cities, this year Tallinn, Vilnius, Kiev and Odessa, Chisinau, Ufa, Minsk and even New York. Well, and the most gratifying thing: this year, for the first time after a rather long break, the jury "Under the Roof of the House" again presented the Grand Prix.

The main prize of the festival in terms of the aggregate of merits was awarded to the architect Alexei Kozyr. Exhibited in the House on Brestskaya for many years, Kozyr participated in the 2013 competition with three projects at once - the office of the Federal Service of Financial Markets of the Russian Federation ", an apartment in a high-rise building and a fireplace in a residential building in the village of X-park", of which the jury could not choose the best one. The objects, different in typology and scale, are united by the recognizable style of Trump - strict and brutal geometry of details, honest texture of materials, laconic finish.

The first place in the category "Realized Residential Interior" was also given to the constant participant of the festivals of the House on Brestskaya, architect Pyotr Kostelov. His “Oak tube. The Wooden Tunnel on Smolenka”is a living room and an office, which the designer placed in an oak capsule. The light wood paneling and softened corners of the rooms compensated for the lack of natural light and the initially very narrow elongated shape of the room.

The winner of the "Public Interior" nomination - "Sleepbox hotel Tverskaya" by the "Arch Group" architectural bureau is very similar in style to the "Wooden Tunnel". Slipboxes, finished in wood or aluminum, are small but basic hotel rooms in which transit passengers can spend the night. Initially, it was planned that these "sleep capsules" would be installed directly at airports or train stations, but then a whole hotel was assembled from modular rooms, the interior of which was designed by the architects in the style of a spaceship, deliberately not connected with the history of Moscow, or even with geography. the Russian capital.

Wood is also actively used in the interior decoration of the BIOSTORIA store (architect Anastasia Frishman), which received the first prize of the festival in the “Decoration” nomination. The concept of this store is simple - only organic products are sold here, from groceries to cosmetics. The shelves are made of roughly hewn logs or beams, neat poles - a kind of advertisement for the environmental friendliness of the presented product - lie on the shelves themselves.

The triad of architectural nominations of the festival will be opened by "Details", "gold" for which this year was awarded to the "Architectural workshop of Totan Kuzembaev" for a stylish

house "Makalun".

The jury named "House on the Bay" by Andrey Tiguntsev as the best realized country house. Perhaps the most unusual thing about this two-story cottage with a curved fully glazed facade is that it was built in Siberia, on the banks of the Irkutsk reservoir. The architect managed to overcome the resistance of the harsh climate - and this achievement, perhaps, in itself is really worthy of an award, although in the appearance of the house, if you wish, you can find many parallels with Western buildings.

And, finally, the best concept of a cottage community in 2013 was “VERSTA Art Village”, designed by “Gikalo Kuptsov Architects” bureau. The linear village, as the authors themselves call it, was invented for Nikola-Lenivets as part of a competition for a project to create creative residences there. The unplowed field, on which it is planned to build the art cluster, became the main source of inspiration for the architects - having imagined a tractor with a plow passing through it for the first time, they used the resulting furrow a mile long to accommodate houses and workshops. Importantly, there is only one furrow - by fitting on it all the volumes required by the customer, the architects were thus able to keep most of the field untouched. This solution was not chosen for implementation, but its elegance and wit eventually won the jury of another competition, which brought the "Gikalo Kuptsov Architects" bureau the "gold" of the "Under the Roof of a House" festival.
