This is a free-standing plug & play restorative sleep capsule. Haworth originally designed CalmSpace for business travelers on long, highly offset flights to quickly rest, recuperate, and prepare for important negotiations and focused work. The user who wants to relax enters the capsule through the acoustic curtains and lies down on a soft couch. After choosing a sleep mode with a duration of 10 to 20 minutes, a special sound and light program is activated, which helps a person fall asleep and, most importantly, get out of sleep comfortably.
CalmSpace allows the user to rest and recharge for further productive activities. Many companies now organize recreation areas for their employees like soft zones or coffee points, but only a few pay serious attention to silence and individual relaxation.
An education in neuropharmacology allowed Marie-Virginie Berbet to use her scientific knowledge to develop CalmSpace. A nap in the middle of the day has been shown to have a beneficial effect on a person's cognitive abilities (memory, attention, learning and creativity), improve mood, prevent stress, promote better night sleep, and even reduce the likelihood of cardiovascular disease.
In 2011 Haworth tested the first CalmSpace module at the France Telecom Orange call center in Lyon. Now the serial release of the innovative CalmSpace capsule is being prepared, which can be used in any office. Employees working very intensively in the office will be able to retire to CalmSpace and recuperate.
