The founder of Coop Himmelb (l) au Wolf D. Prix believes that the structure of the building is easy to read from the outside: "The school embraces the concert hall." The U-shaped building of rehearsal studios and classrooms surrounds the main part of the House of Music - a concert hall for 1300 seats.
Both parts are united by a 5-storey foyer with balconies, staircases and walkways. Large windows offer views of the fjord, and the concert hall can be viewed through openings in its walls. Under the foyer there are three small rooms - "intimate", "rhythmic" and "classic".
The main hall has achieved one of the best symphonic music spaces in Europe in noise reduction performance - NR10 (GK10). The quality of acoustics there is provided by knocking "reliefs" on the walls and panels mounted on the ceiling.
Among the environmental aspects of the project are the elimination of fans, maintaining the optimal temperature inside with the help of a thermal mass of concrete and a concrete core activation system, using water from the fjord to cool the building, etc.
