Over the past two years, the theme of sustainable wooden houses has become one of the central themes for Yuri Vissarionov's architectural studio. In particular, with the project of an energy efficient cottage, in which the image of a traditional hut was vividly played out, the creative team took part in the competition "House of the XXI century", and later developed a number of proposals, where natural wood is the main constructive and finishing material. Among the latter are detached and semi-detached single-family houses intended for different climatic regions of the country.

The first project is a complex of block houses-apartments. It was developed for the Adler region of Sochi and will be implemented near the ski slopes. This neighborhood prompted the authors to choose an architectural theme for a chalet - a traditional Alpine dwelling in which the basement is plastered and the superstructure is made of wood and covered with a wooden gable roof.

The plot intended for the construction of apartments has a trapezoidal, almost rectangular shape and stretches along the north-south axis. From the north, it borders on a carriageway (therefore, it is from here that the entrance to the adjoining territory is organized), from all other sides - with neighboring residential areas. In addition, there is a slight slope here: the relief difference is about 2 meters, and the architects used it to place an underground parking lot for 12 cars - it is connected to the basement floors of residential buildings using special vestibule locks.

The complex consists of six residential blocks and is essentially a townhouse. In its plan, it resembles a square bracket, in the "joints" of which on the ground floor there are not residential, but technical and office premises - later they can be used both as cafes and as shops. In the same corner sections, in addition to street entrances with lobbies, passenger elevators are provided. In addition, each block has an internal staircase with natural light, and small pools are also designed in the two central sections on the basement floor.

The ground floor of the complex is faced with ceramic tiles, the upper floors are made of laminated veneer lumber. The rich honey shade of the wood is favorably set off by the white "overhead" elements - square consoles of balconies placed on the facades in a checkerboard pattern. The balconies are made of thin wooden slats, and the entrance areas are also decorated. The combination of the image of a traditional mountain house and laconic geometric forms gives the architecture of the complex a modern and stylish sound.

The second project is the reconstruction of a cottage near Moscow, in the course of which a traditional example of "Novorusskiy" construction will turn into a work of "architectural minimalism" (as defined by the authors). The entire living space underwent "plastic surgery", but the architects made the largest number of adjustments to the appearance of the roof and the semicircular bay window at the full height of the house. The latter architects propose to fully glaze and "stitch" with thin vertical slats made of wood. This will give a rather large volume visual lightness and some extravagance, and fill the interior of the house with daylight.

In addition, as a result of the reconstruction, the area of public areas in the house will significantly increase. In particular, an exploitable roof will be added to the open terrace of the second floor: instead of massive slopes, the architects are designing a laconic flat roof. And again, a wooden lath is actively used, bringing charm to the appearance of the house and emphasizing its openness to the environment. In particular, the fence of the "observation deck" is made of it, thanks to which the new roof resembles the upper deck of a wooden ship.
