The complex of a series of towers of different heights is located in one of the most picturesque places in China - the vicinity of the Huangshan mountain range, which has attracted artists since ancient times. It was on the medieval landscapes in ink in the genre of shan-shui, "mountains - water", and Ma Yansun was guided when developing the project. The main idea of this and his other works is to dissolve the boundaries between architecture and nature, to make one part of the other; this also applies to his concept of "Shan Shui City".
"Huangshan Mountain Village" was erected on the southern shore of Lake Taiping, within the boundaries of Huangshan City District. All its constituent towers are of different heights and silhouettes, and wide balconies with transparent fences made the surrounding landscape part of the living space. The volumes of the buildings, in addition to the shape of the Huangshan granite peaks, are also inspired by the terraces of the tea plantations that are nearby.
The residential project is part of the Taiping Lake Tourism Masterplan, which was also developed by MAD. It covers an area of 118.6 hectares.
