The Wafra skyscraper, run by OMA partners Ayad Alsaka and Rainier de Graaf, is set to be the workshop's first completed project in Kuwait. In the past, a department store and a whole district remained on paper, which were supposed to appear, like Wafra, in the country's capital, Kuwait.
An apartment building will be erected in the new, newly built-up district of Hessa al-Mubarak. Active "development" in Kuwait has now reached the scale of a boom: projects with a total budget of more than $ 460 billion are underway.
Wafra is a structure of five volumes, gradually changing the plan from an L-shaped at the base to a regular plate at the top. Thanks to this, the usable area in the lower part was maximized, and all apartments received panoramic views of the city and the bay.
Transparent facades with a regular grid of profiles, which emphasize the shape of the building that changes with increasing height, contrast with its monolithic "core". On top of each block there are green terraces with sports facilities, a swimming pool and danis - typical Kuwait areas for socializing and relaxing for men. At ground level, there is a spacious lobby with lounge areas and a coworking space with sea views.

The building will have one, two and three bedroom apartments as well as very large penthouses. Construction should begin at the end of 2020.
