The appearance of this territory with a total area of 1 450 000 m2 is due to the new general plan of the city, but it also fits into the historically established urban planning structure of Astana, which consists in the parallel development of residential and industrial zones along the railway line passing along the East-West axis.
The microdistrict project includes a variety of functional forms and organisms that meet the realities of our life. The main task in the design was to create the most comfortable conditions for living and working, which led to the territorial separation of residential and public areas.
The noisy business center is moved outside the microdistrict and is included in the main transport network of Astana, leaving the picturesque river bank free for residents to use as the main recreational area.
In turn, the residential area is divided by a pedestrian "highway" passing from West to East, towards the center, and uniting various centers of social life. The infrastructure of the microdistrict includes schools, kindergartens, consumer services, shops, cinemas, hospitals, hotels, a sports complex, an entertainment center, and parking lots.
This project is an attempt by architects to rethink the urban design of the previous era, linking it with a new practice, keeping all the best and taking a step forward.
