The project of the Danish architect Henning Larsen's bureau took first place, defeating such a serious rival as the Dutchman Erik van Egeraat. The new 85 m high tower will be surrounded by several lower buildings with roof gardens. Together they form a new ensemble for one of the city's central squares. The skyscraper itself is shaped like a tulip, expanding towards the top. A wonderful view of the city and its surroundings will open from its roof, so the architect named his project "The Eyes of Tirana".
The complex, connected by hanging bridges and underground passages, is one of the parts of the new urban planning concept of the city, developed by the French firm "Arshitektur Studio" in 2003.
