Outwardly, the structure resembles two huge golf balls stuck together. Inside there are two rooms with a total area of 20 sq. m, fenced off by a screen; there are nine tatami mats on the floor of the pavilion.

The larger room will host the actual tea ceremony. There is an electric stove for heating water and a tokonoma niche for a picturesque scroll or decorative composition. In the smaller one, all the necessary preparations will take place.

A traditional pavilion of this type is constructed of wood and bamboo, and the walls are covered with rice paper. To convey the translucency of such partitions in the Frankfurt building, Kuma used translucent modern material “Gore Tenara” for its walls.

The new structure can be used both at night (LEDs are inserted into its shell) and at low temperatures (it will be heated with warm air).
