The construction is designed for 12,500 spectators. The configuration of the hall may vary depending on the event being held, but any of its variants assumes that the audience is closer to the stage than in a traditional theater hall (the maximum distance is 70 m).
The facades of the building are decorated with a geometric pattern, the random arrangement of the elements of which is based on the principle of the Voronoi diagram. At night it will be illuminated in one way or another, depending on the performance taking place inside; the look of the arena in the dark was especially important for the city authorities, who see it as a potential for the regeneration of the part of Leeds city center where it is located, including its revitalization in the evening. This should also be facilitated by a new public space in front of the main entrance, which will also be used as a winter garden. In addition, the building will house several restaurants.
Construction is scheduled to begin by the end of this year and be completed at the end of 2012.
