This was not a greenfield construction, but a complete renovation of an existing building. The Sandkampen complex now houses a Christian elementary school and a kindergarten alongside the regular general education school; there was also a new extension - a social housing complex.
The Sandkampen School also plays the role of a community center for the surrounding area: members of local sports, music and other clubs and associations hold meetings there.
The facades of the building are covered with Rockpanel Woods panels to create the effect of cladding made of natural wood. The architects cut them into pieces of different lengths, which, combined with the unique pattern on each panel, enhanced the resemblance to real planks. This Rockwool product differs from natural material by higher strength and fire resistance.
