The Department of Sociology of the Financial University, operating under the Government of the Russian Federation, analyzed 38 largest cities in Russia in terms of living standards. According to the results of the analysis, Kazan took third place after Tyumen and Moscow. The city continues to be actively developed. The Portovaya substation project as an object of the urban environment is one of the examples of further improvement of Kazan. Its facade solution using Rockpanel panels, the raw material for the production of which is natural stone of volcanic origin, was personally approved by Rustam Minnikhanov, President of Tatarstan.
The construction of the power facility is dictated by the need to modernize morally and physically obsolete electrical equipment, buildings and structures. The substation has been in operation since 1957 and has completely exhausted its resource. The design took into account the new requirements of the city administration, including the formation of the architectural space. The construction cost is 700 million rubles.
Portovaya will become the eighth closed-type substation in Kazan. All its equipment will be completely located inside the building, which will harmoniously fit the building into the residential quarters of the city, and construction will save the building area.
The object required a moisture resistant material with the possibility of complex milling. Rockpanel panels fit perfectly. Rockpanel is made from natural stone. Such material is fireproof, immune to atmospheric influences and absolutely safe for humans and the environment. The service life of the panels is more than 50 years, which meets the requirements for the service life of the materials used on the facades of buildings and structures. Basalt fiber slabs are as strong as stone, but lightweight, easy to cut and install.
The panels are protected with a special Protect Plus coating. It makes Rockpanel boards self-cleaning: dirt will be washed off with rainwater. The coating also improves UV resistance, which significantly extends the life of the façade and protects it from fading.
