The installation "Cool Game" - the keyboard of a grand piano or other keyboard instrument - by the beginning of the school year appeared on the facade of the "Class-Center" school in the Sokol district in the north of Moscow. Composite keys are up to six meters in size, and one of the side buttons also doubles as a media screen.

artist Marina Zvyagintseva, has more than once worked with perceived as faceless buildings of educational and social institutions as a basis for her works in the genre of public art. Archi.ru spoke with Marina Zvyagintseva about her new job.
How does your installation enrich the urban space?
- "Cool game" turns the school into a point of attraction for the entire district, making it noticeable among the surrounding buildings. We are used to the fact that school buildings do not look attractive and are not interesting for residents of nearby houses: the most interesting thing happens inside the school. The installation made it possible to make the inner life of the school visible - to emphasize its creative direction and even look inside using a multimedia screen located in one of the buttons.
How does she interact with the school building?
- My task was not to change the architecture of the building, which was built in 1940, but to reprogram it so that it looks modern. My principle of work in public art is based on the principle of site-specific, that is, I try to see and hear the specific features of a place and add additional accents and meanings there with the help of public art.
When creating an installation for the school, I saw the rhythm of architecture and decided to enrich it with new meanings. In a real piano, the keys are arranged differently, here the arrangement of the keys obeys the rhythm of the niches of the facade. It turns out that each key finds its place within the architecture.

What is architecture for you in the context of your installations?
- Here, architecture acts as a full-fledged participant in the creative process, creating the basis for public art. So it was on ARTPLAY, where
the façade windows have become part of the mixing console. This was the case on the facade of the library in Norilsk and on the facade of the Morozov hospital. Architecture is a huge canvas on which the artist makes several "strokes" with the help of his installation and thus creates a new work.
Marina Zvyagintseva is a nominee for the VII All-Russian competition in the field of contemporary visual art "INNOVATION" (2012), the "ARCHIWOOD" prize (2012), the Kandinsky Prize (2008 and 2009) and the Kuryokhin Prize (2011 and 2018).
